WASHINGTON - Travel in Angola poses a considerable risk and the security threat to Americans in Iraq (news - web sites) remains high, the State Department said Thursday.
The warnings were part of a program to alert U.S. citizens to dangers abroad.
In Angola, the signing of a peace agreement in November ended 21 years of civil conflict but left most of the country damaged or destroyed, so travel can be dangerous, according to the statement.
In Iraq, remnants of the deposed government, transnational terrorists and criminal elements are active, the statement said.
